Why am I presenting my résumé in PDF and ODF instead of Microsoft Word?

PDF is a document exchange format and is an open standard. Viewers exist on every major platform.

OpenDocument is an OASIS and ISO/IEC open standard freely available to application developers. You can open the documents in OpenOffice.org, KOffice, Google Docs, IBM's Lotus Symphony, and other software suites. Microsoft even funds an ODF add-in for Word on SourceForge.
